Ofsted  Requirements

I am Ofsted Registered and inspected every 6 years. My certificate is displayed in my home. My most recent inspection I was awarded 'good' with 'outstanding areas' for safeguarding, caring, attention and well being for my children.  My job entails observing and assessing the children whilst they play, then using the information I gather for their next steps and planning (In accordance with Ofsted guidelines) using the early years framework 2021, development matters and birth to 5, also for activities as well as been child led. Each child has their own learning & development journal which also include photographs of activities and wow moments, these are all done digitally and emailed to parents. All parents will have their own passcode which they must set up to be able to log on Kinderly to see their child’s progress only and also for them to leave any feed back or comments. (Ofsted may request to see these during an Inspection). I am registered with ICO and all private information is in line with there database.

Children in the EYFS have a daily diary detailing what they have eaten for snacks/lunch, drinks, nappy changes, nap times, activities and day to day news of their day which again can be accessed through Kinderly every day.

Policies & Procedures

Ofsted & EYFS require all early years providers to have policies & procedures in place to safeguard the children. All my policies and procedures have been created and focused on my setting and reflect my best practice and are compliant.

They provide clear instructions and guidelines on what must be done in a particular set of circumstances or with regard to a particular issue and to eliminate any risk of ambiguity or upset.

They include:

safeguarding, data protection, medicine, working with parents, accidents, incidents & emergency, illness & infectious diseases, covid outbreak, british values, inclusion, health & safety, managing behaviour, equal opportunities, house rules, children's sickness, complaints, dropping off & collecting and many more...They are all available to see in my works file and can be accessed at anytime if required.

It is a vital part of any early years setting for all parents to sign and date any relevant permission forms that allows me to safeguard and protect their children at all times. I would require these signatures during the contract agreement and they would then be filed using data protection.

For Health & Safety I do daily Risk Assessments of my home both in/out side. I check and record my smoke alarms & carbon monoxide alarm weekly and they all are displayed in my home.

I have a First aid box in my home and a smaller one in my car plus essentials on me if we are out walking and these are checked regularly to restock.
